ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
You don’t need to be in the middle of Times Square to practice the art of Urban Sketching!
Join renowned location illustrator Veronica Lawlor to learn techniques geared to help get you get started in the art of urban sketching, right here in Woodstock, NY.
Urban Sketching is:
1. Drawing on-site at places where people gather.
2. Telling stories of daily life in a village or city through sketching.
3. Slowing down to observe and immerse yourself in the world around you as you draw.
4. Meeting like-minded artists and building community by drawing together.
Over the course of this one-day introductory workshop you’ll learn how to make picture decisions through small thumbnail sketches, use framing and point of view to dramatize a feeling or idea, draw people on site, even when they are moving, and put your story together in a sequence of drawings.
All levels are welcomed: all you need is a sketchbook and a pen to get started! Ages 16+

- Please note that for workshops lasting all day there is a one-hour break from 12PM to 1PM. Students are invited to bring lunch and eat at the school or may go to any of the local dining establishments. The school does not provide lunch or refreshments.
