Veronica Lawlor

Veronica Lawlor’s reportage drawings have led her around the world, creating award-winning illustrations for a diverse group of clients. Her expressionistic on-site drawings consider the sensation of place through formal aesthetic and narrative concerns. She brings those same sensibilities into the studio, creating abstract paintings reflective of the energy and atmosphere of the locations she has documented.

A native of New York City, Veronica is on the faculty of Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute and conducts location drawing workshops worldwide. Her work has been exhibited by the United Nations, the Mystic Seaport Museum, the Society of Illustrators, 601 Artspace, Emerge Gallery, the Plaxall Gallery, and others. In 2011 she was selected as the North American representative for the Canson Prix, and her work was presented at the Louvre.

Her 2023 solo exhibit, Material Memory, was presented at Emerge Gallery in Saugerties, NY. The show was the culmination of a drawing and painting project about the Hudson Valley brickyards that she began while in residence at the Woodstock-Byrdcliffe Guild.

Veronica’s work is in the collection of Chase Private Client, The Newbury Hotel, SOHO House NY, and numerous private collectors. She has authored several books on drawing and illustration.
