Scholarships are available for ongoing studio and online classes only (not workshops).
Richard McDaniel Scholarship

Richard McDaniel, an artist, and fine arts instructor now living in California, leads workshops and lectures throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. He taught drawing and painting classes at the WSA for more than 17 years (1983-1999). The Richard McDaniel Scholarship is awarded to a student who intends to maintain an ongoing relationship with the school, has demonstrated a commitment to a career in the Fine Arts, and will commit to on-going study at the school.
More About Richard:
Richard McDaniel was born in 1948 in Berkeley, California. He received his B.A. in sculpture from California State University at San Diego, and his M.F.A. in painting from University of Notre Dame. McDaniel also studied painting at the Art Students League of New York.
Richard McDaniel has taught drawing, painting, and pastel at Woodstock School of Art in New York and at the Pacific Academy of Fine Arts in California. He also was an instructor at Connecticut State University and conducts painting workshops in many areas.
Richard McDaniel spends at least as much time studying his subjects and thinking about his compositions as he does painting them. His landscapes are designed to engage the viewer with calculated rhythms and color schemes, so the parts of the painting are as rewarding to look at as any literal transcription of the subject.

Logan’s Legacy Scholarship

Logan Rohrkemper (October 22, 1980 – July 1, 2021) was born and raised in Three Rivers, California, a small artists’ enclave at the gateway to Sequoia National Forest . Logan studied at The Art Institute of California while working full time. Her passion was painting portraits and music scenes during live concerts. After a long, courageous battle with cancer, Logan passed away at the home of her mother, Beth, in West Hurley. Beth created this scholarship in Logan’s honor to help working women access fine arts instruction. “This scholarship is a wonderful way to remember Logan and keep her Legacy alive. She loved Woodstock, its history and nature, and the School of Art has everything she loved!”
