Historic Barn Renovation Project

The Historic Barn Renovation is underway! Hammers are swinging, and by Fall 2026, we will welcome artists, instructors, and residents into a fully accessible, energy-efficient creative space. The barn will feature a new foundation, insulation, windows, doors, roof, HVAC, heat pumps, and more.

Thanks to the generosity of community members, grant funders, and local businesses, we’ve already raised a large portion of the funds needed to make this vision a reality.
Now, we need your help to cross the finish line!

“The Barn”, 1987. Print by Robert Angeloch

“We’ve decided to save the barn and breathe into her a new life for the benefit of our community and the art world at large.”
– Kate McGloughlin, WSA Barn Committee Chair

Our historic barn, circa early 1900s, has long been a home for aspiring and established artists alike. Once a summer studio and residence for the Art Students League, it has stood for more than a century as a symbol of creativity and community—and it remains the first building that welcomes every visitor to our campus. Learn more about the history of the barn here.

Please help us to restore a cornerstone of our historic campus—ensuring that future generations of artists can create, learn, and thrive in this treasured barn.

Join us at one of these sponsor levels—every gift makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your support.

P.S. Call us to arrange a site visit. We have a hard hat waiting for you!
