Workshop
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Monotype and Monoprint are creative processes that can be most wonderfully adventurous, liberating and an invitation for an artist to ‘free’ themselves from expectations, blocks and thoughts of uncertainty. Participants, whether they be realistically or abstractly oriented will be motivated by the great outdoors of the Catskill’s landscape where we will caravan to a site and create on location.
Dan Welden’s “Walkabout” exercise with the true “spirit of printmaking” using the Solarplate will allow each artist to do multiple ‘monoprints’ opening the doorway to the novice as well as the experienced artist.
Experience finalizing the images with Swiss Caran d’ Ache crayons in combination with layering of multiple inks. Once the composition has been created, an impression is made from it in full color!
Various tools, brushes, crayons, inks, and erasing techniques are used to create one of a kind unique effects. The squashed painting could be spontaneous, emotional and filled with vibrancy or, planned, analytical, and beaming with structure. Morning instructions and demonstrations will be followed by afternoon hands on as well as witnessing Dan at work.
Best suited for adventurous artists with printmaking experience. Ages 18+
