$120 for 4 consecutive weeks
Deadline for registration is 7 PM on the day before the first class. Any registrations received after 7 PM the night before the first class of the session will receive the pre-recorded video of the first class (or classes missed if session already began). Be sure to include your email address.
We will study techniques of botanical drawing and the characteristics of working on a mid-tone Kraft paper allowing the opportunity to create shadows and highlights easily using colored pencils and watercolor pencils. We will create informal sketchbook pages learning about plants as we go. In these 4 sessions we will focus on foraging outside, finding subjects to draw in gardens, woods, and meadows. As the season progresses we can move into fruits, vegetables, seed pods, roots, and other plant components.
Week 1-Discuss creating sketchbook pages and drawing outside while foraging for subjects.
Week 2-Focus on drawing some of the spring ephemeral flowers such as trout lily, blood root, etc.
Week 3-Drawing more flowers and mushrooms.
Week 4-Drawing more wildflowers , mushrooms, etc.
Students will learn about plants and what is growing in your region outside. Flower drawing in perspective. Understanding flower structure, and function (botany) along with gaining skills of using colored pencils and watercolor pencils.
