The Alla Prima Oil Portrait

Alla Prima means all at once, or in one sitting.  This is a fun approach to portraiture resulting in portraits with a fresh, appealing immediacy.

This workshop features 4 distinct model sessions, with a different model for each one. Woolley demonstrates alla prima portrait painting in oil Sunday morning. She will discuss how to pose and light a model for portrait painting, color theory and palette. For the rest of the workshop, students will paint a total of 3 alla prima portraits, with Woolley teaching individually, easel-to-easel. There will be a group critique with refreshments at the end of each day.
