Beginning with a discussion of materials, including soft pastel choices, tools, paper samples, details of storing and framing pastels will also be covered. Methods of working with the medium and step by step video demonstrations of
finished paintings will be shown.
Each class will have daily demos, exercises and individual instruction. Working from life, students will experience the pastel process: determining composition, discovering methods, and completing paintings. Emphasis is on gaining confidence with the immediacy and possibilities of pastels.
