Still Life: Color and Light Online Painting Demos – Series One

This online course is a two-part oil painting demo series. Each demo is approximately 1.5 hours in length and deals with specific issues relating to color and light in still life painting. There is no supply list, or homework. Just watch, learn, and enjoy!

March 22:
Organizing form using planes of color and light.
The importance of the value/color relationship.
March 29:
Creating space using color temperature.

By watching these demos and applying these strategies when painting, students will better understand how to simplify and organize value/color planes to make convincing form. Students will also learn to recognize relative color temperature in a still life, to help make space recede or move forward.
