Students will learn a clear and organized approach to drawing a portrait. A step-by-step process helps make this challenging subject both manageable and rewarding. Along the way, students will learn about scale, placement, proportion, measuring, and basic anatomy. Charcoal and pastel—both versatile dry media—are ideal for learning this.
Charcoal is erasable, easily blended, and relatively inexpensive, making it an excellent medium for developing drawing skills. Students will learn how to create both dramatic contrasts and subtle tonal variations.
Pastel is another highly versatile dry medium. With its rich range of color, it serves as a natural bridge between drawing and painting, allowing students to explore both tonal structure and color
