Two, six hour sessions at the very unique and rocky Low Falls Park* in High Falls. Materials, including soft pastel choices, papers, the storing and framing of pastels along with methods and various tools used will be discussed. Frequent demos, group exercises and very individualized instruction.
This workshop emphasizes a balanced composition and examining values to describe the vibrant landscape. From initial sketches, to underpainting with pastels, to a completed work, looking as part of process is stressed. Plein-air, weather permitting/bring a photograph to work from.
*LOW FALLS: meet at 9am in the parking lot at 103 Main St, High Falls, 12440, NY and the park is across the road down a path to the falls. Or, meet at 8:45 at 181 Rock Hill Road and we can drive down there together view map here. Further instructions to follow.
