ABOUT THIS COURSE:
Students will be using a palette of materials ranging from, but not limited too, found objects, recycled and natural materials, paint and sand. We will look at and discuss different artists who work in a mixed media format for inspiration and process. The elements of art and the principles of design will be introduced as a framework and referred to when making artistic choices to create their own mixed media artwork. Students will be encouraged to work intuitively as well as thoughtfully.
The workshop will include critiquing artists work for inspiration, demonstration of different techniques, and a large portion for studio time.
Students will gain:
- How to use the elements of art & principles of design in the process of creating artwork.
- Techniques of layering, paper mache, creating translucency in color and building texture.
