Encaustic Accretion: Enhance the Textural Depth & Drama of Your Work
$330.00
Out of stock
If you paint with encaustics, you know that the wax sometimes clumps…even at times when all you really want to do is to create a smooth surface.
Yet, this dimensional characteristic of wax can also be put to interesting, dramatic and even magnificent effect in building rich, sculptural texture and depth.
During this session we’ll consider ways of purposefully coaxing and guiding the natural clumping nature (accretion) of encaustics so that it enhances our work. But first, we’ll begin by playing, scratching, dripping and splashing hot wax as we explore the possibilities.
We’ll then step back to take note of how we’ve achieved the resulting effects with which we are most intrigued and pleased so that we can incorporate those actions with intention in our next works.
Come to this session with the basic supply-list items or, if you have experience with encaustics, gather up a few of your discarded encaustic paintings so that you can continue to build upon your base layers and take your work to new heights and depths.
