Drawing & Painting with Ink

This three-day workshop will explore ways of working with new and traditional ink products. Students will use ink to make abstract, figurative, and landscape artworks both in color and in black and white. We’ll work from a live model and other objects, too, using a little bit of this and a little bit of that to make fun collage images.

You will be encouraged to develop your unique artistic voice and philosophy while strengthening your knowledge of the many fundamental elements in art—color, composition, space, texture, line, values, shape, and visual thinking—which we will cultivate through demonstrations, making art, and critiques. Along the way, we will build new techniques which will inform your future art projects.

Group and individual critiques and discussions along with demonstrations and visual lectures will take place frequently during class. This ink workshop welcomes beginners who have never worked with ink to advanced artists who want to expand into and explore this medium in their practice.
