Cut Paper and Mixed Media

$174.00

Out of stock

SKU: CPMM4 - 04/03/2023 - 04/24/2023 Category: Classes and Workshops

Expanding on Jenne’s Cut and Painted Paper class, this course continues the theme of creating a balance between playful experimentation and careful study of composition. We will start out discussing composition- studying the work of masters such as Titian, Vermeer and Cezanne and compare them to modern works of art. Students will begin by painting loosely on paper, applying color and texture using palette knives, sponges as well as traditional brushes. They will cut up their painted papers and begin rearranging them along with magazine cuttings etc. in order to study composition. As we dig deeper, we will discuss methods of creating a sense of movement, excitement and energy in students’ work. Students may choose to expand on these concepts, moving on to mixed media and working with a variety of materials on wood panels. A free exchange of ideas, exploration and discovery is the goal in this casual work environment.
