Create exciting Monotypes and Monoprints with Akua Etching Inks. Bring your drawings, collages, prints, photo ideas–or plan to work extemporaneously. The Akua Printmaking inks are soy-based. The ink can be washed off with water and soap for easy safe clean-up. This is a great substitute for traditional oil-based printmaking inks. The intense colors wipe smoothly like oil base creating deep rich values and plate tones. Akua etching inks are ideal for Intaglio/Etching, Monotype, Gel and Collagraph printmaking.
During this one-day workshop we will work from dark to light using a range of rollers and wiping tool to create subtle tones and graduated values à la Rembrandt and Degas. Also by drawing and scoring into the plexiglass, expressive drypoint lines can be created. Often, by staying with the same plate and reactivating the ghost image, amazing second pulls will result. There will also be demonstrations on how to use this versatile ink for relief printmaking on wood and linoleum and the proper ways to work with Akua on Collagraphs. So much new info will be presented that will inform your future prints–enjoy! This workshop will fulfill beginners to advanced printmakers.
