Bring your drawings, collages, prints, photo ideas–or plan to work extemporaneously. We will be using the Akua Intaglio Inks that are soy-based. The ink can be washed off with water and soap for easy safe clean-up. This is a great substitute for traditional oil-based printmaking inks. The intense colors wipe smoothly like the oil-based creating deep rich values and plate tones. Akua etching inks are ideal for Intaglio/Etching (Drypoint), Monotype, Gel and Collagraph printmaking.
During this one-day workshop we will work from dark to light using a range of rollers and wiping tools to create subtle tones and graduated values à la Rembrandt and Degas. Often, by staying with the same plate and reactivating the ghost image, amazing second pulls will result. So much new info will be presented that will inform your future prints–enjoy! This workshop will fulfill beginners to advanced printmakers.
