Classic Woodcut

This workshop will focus on a traditional method of creating an edition of woodcut prints. Lectures will cover a brief history and sampling of woodcuts from around the world and throughout history.

Capitalizing on the medium’s potential for bold, flat patterns and rough hewn effects, participants will be encourage to realize a design best suited for the medium, be shown different cutting techniques, and become familiar with traditional tools and printing techniques that have been used to make woodcuts for millennia. Revolutions have been won with the power of a well executed woodcut—Viva la Revolución!
