This hands-on workshop is designed to give students a foundational and practical understanding of printmaking adhesives, with a deep dive into mastering different approaches to layering materials on both new and previously created prints.
Using both chine collé (which allows printmakers to bond thin sheets of paper to a heavier printing paper during the printmaking process itself) and other conservation adhesives artist will learn to add unique layers, color, and texture to the final image.
Students will also learn approaches for remounting works, adhering paper and fabric to panel, and how to avoid the warping, cupping, and ripples that often discourage artists from attempting these techniques.
This workshop is ideal for printmakers, mixed-media artists, and anyone interested in utilizing printmaking processes as a starting point for expansive collage and layered constructions. Suitable for all levels, no experience necessary! Ages 18+
