This course includes lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on work time. The goal of this program is to help new and existing instructors develop the skills they need to design and implement masterful, well-organized, and fun encaustic workshops.

Dietlind will review fundamental techniques and introduce a variety of additional options in layered imagery, mark making, and mixed media, such as R&F Pigment Sticks®. There will be an emphasis on clear explanations of the properties of wax-based paint such as opacity, building layers, and the relationship of wax and oil. Group discussions will be geared towards the business aspects of teaching such as how to approach venues, promoting workshops, and working with different learning styles.

Studio time focuses on creating project templates and sample panels as a record of your experiences to share with your future students as visual aids. Assignments include creating two detailed workshop proposals with complete syllabi and a 30 minute group practice teach. The workshop will also include a group trip to R&F to meet the owners and experience a hands on color demonstration featuring R&F Pigment Sticks®.
