This new online course is a mighty adventure within the vast boundlessness of Abstraction. I cordially invite all artists, beginner to advanced. You will forge new ground that will add visible breadth to your repertoire.
Each week, I present international artists, their work, thoughts and process in drawing and painting. They portray abstraction with an irresistible array of new materials. Our phenomenal time period NOW has artists newly published and I will show you them all. Their experimentation runs through our present, freely evolving through tumultuous times. Traversing spontaneity through surface, texture and the abundant glories of drawing and painting is where we shall travel.
I set forth for you pragmatic demonstrations and explicit study of the sumptuous life of abstraction. We draw and paint together in every class. I offer a weekly Homework Assignment which can be uploaded to the WSA Dropbox for review. Homework is not mandatory but offered for you to explore your colleagues work. You will become proficient in the language of abstraction.
Think of the glories of pattern, the mysteries of Asemic Writing, the magnificence of line in all its diversity, thick expansive line to itty bitty dotted to fluctuating gesture. Imagine distinct shapes meeting aqueous indistinct shapes, the emphasis of color and the effects of light and dark. Transparency is perhaps the most enchanting method of conducting light and space, seen as playing a formative role in drawing and painting for centuries. Yet, it remains underused in the application of abstraction. I offer you a plentitude of up to date encounters with the magic that occurs between transparency and opacity.
Grant your intuition the treasure to express something that approaches and courts ambiguity. Observe and experiment with graphite, collage, acrylic, oil, watercolor, stamping, perforation, cold wax, the list is without end.
I aim to show you the dizzying new arrangements in the language of abstraction. NOW!
For Beginners and Advanced Artists.
