2009 Annual Print – Prudence See
$75.00
Prudence See, Moonlight, block print, 6” x 7¾”
Regarding the subject of the print See notes, “Place has always been a theme in my work, ever since as a child and teenager I intensely sketched every corner of my home and garden near Oxford, in England. Many of these early works have inspired paintings, scratchboard drawings, prints and writing. This is the case with Moonlight, developed from a sketch of the old apple trees in our walled garden. In process is a series of linoleum prints of the garden of which this is the first.”
Prudence See was born and raised in England, where she studied painting at the Ruskin Art School in Oxford and at the Chelsea Art School in London. Since moving to the United States after college she has had solo exhibitions at the Woodstock Artists Association & Museum, the Omega Institute of Holistic Studies, Rhinebeck; The Emily Hoysradt Gallery, Kingston; and the Half Moon Gallery, Saugerties. She has also shown in a two person exhibition with Tricia Cline at the Fletcher Gallery in Woodstock, and has participated in numerous group shows in the area. Prue has been awarded residencies at the Blue Mountain Center, Blue Mountain Lake, New York; and at the Brisons Veor Center in Cornwall, England. She has been commissioned by Prentice Hall, Random House, Ballantine Books, and Amber Lotus Press to produce illustrations for books, greeting cards and calendars.
