$120 for 4 consecutive weeks
Deadline for registration is 7 PM on the day before the first class. Any registrations received after 7 PM the night before the first class of the session will receive the pre-recorded video of the first class (or classes missed if session already began).
Master painter/teacher Mary Anna Goetz will guide students through the process of making a semi-transparent underpainting (a grisaille) to establish the composition before application of the full range of color.
The grisaille technique has been employed for centuries and is favored today by many contemporary artists. Working en plein air, the first class will feature a demonstration of how to create a grisaille underpainting using earth tones. The second class will carry the process a step further, when Goetz demonstrates how to apply a full range of color. The third class will be conducted with Goetz painting en plein air, this time working over a wet grisaille. For the final session, Goetz will invite her class to her studio where she will demonstrate how to complete the process under indoor light. Students will be encouraged to create their own compositions based on instruction from each lesson.
Fridays 10 AM. January 8, 15, 22, 29
