Emilie Houssart

www.emiliehoussart.com

Emilie Houssart is a visual artist based in upstate New York. Through painting, printmaking and sculpture, her recent work explores our confrontations with chaos and absurdity, often incorporating natural and discarded materials.

Emilie was raised in a Dutch household in Norwich, UK, and received her BA Hons. from the University of Durham. She studied and taught classical drawing and painting at the Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence on a scholarship, graduating in 2006. After years in London and Austin, TX, she moved to the Hudson Valley in 2013, where she is currently Resident Artist in Thomas Barrett’s historic studio at the Barrett Art Center, Poughkeepsie, NY.

Emilie gives classes, workshops, and private instruction in drawing, painting, intaglio and monotype. She has taught classes and workshops at the Charles H. Cecil Studios, Vassar College, West Point Military Academy, the Woodstock School of Art and the British Institute of Florence, and is an Instructor at Fall Kill Print Works. Her work is held in collections internationally.
