Instructor Website

David Hornung is a painter and collage artist whose work has been widely exhibited. He holds a BA in art from the University of Delaware and an MFA in painting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Over the course of a long teaching career, he has served on faculties at Indiana University, Skidmore College, Adelphi University, and The Rhode Island School of Design. He is the author of Color: A Workshop for Artists and Designers (Laurence King Pub Ltd.), a textbook that has been translated into six languages and is used in art schools and private studios around the world. The third edition was published in September 2020.

For the past 10 years David has been teaching art workshops in the US and abroad. Elizabeth Ferrill, the artistic director of painting, drawing, and printmaking at Anderson Ranch has written, “David is a skilled teacher who is able to teach to all levels, from beginner to advanced. He is a clear communicator, and his kindness causes even the most tentative student to feel at ease and gain confidence.”

David’s work is represented in Woodstock NY by the Elena Zang Gallery. For more information see davidhornung.com.
