Claire Lambe is a multidisciplinary artist with an emphasis on portraiture, and an art writer and educator. Born in southern Ireland, she began her formal art education at age 17 at the Crawford School of Art in the Irish city of Cork. She transferred to Ireland’s premiere art school, the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), in Dublin earning a Bachelor of Fine Art degree (print-making) and a post-graduate Diploma in Art Education. On relocating to the US, she earned a Master of Fine Art (painting) from the City University of New York at Brooklyn College.
Claire has exhibited widely on both sides of the Atlantic including in Ireland’s National Portrait Exhibitions. Recent exhibitions include a two person show in Berlin, Germany – June 2017; a three person show at Cross Contemporary Art, Saugerties – 2016; a solo show at the South Tipperary Arts Center, Clonmel Ireland – 2015. Also in 2015, Claire was Artist-in-Residence at the Woodstock Public Library where she painted portraits of volunteer subjects from the community. Since 2012, Claire has been selected by Jurors to exhibit at WAAM, the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz, and at the Muroff-Kotler Gallery, SUNY Ulster.
In addition to her art practice and teaching at the Woodstock School of Art, Claire writes commentary in the art section of Roll, an on-line arts magazine serving the Hudson Valley.
