Workshop
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Working with oils or acrylics on paper, students will create abstract landscapes in an impressionist style from reference materials or their imagination. Workshop will encourage self-expression through use of color. Painting knife and brush techniques will be explored.
Suitable for all levels, no experience necessary! Ages 18+

*In an effort to maintain our non-toxic environment, the Woodstock School of Art does not permit the use of turpentine or mineral spirits in the painting studios. Additionally, please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or scents of any kind. Learn more.
*Those with special needs and/or requests may email the registrar.
Please note that for workshops lasting all day there is a one-hour break from twelve noon to one PM. Students are invited to bring lunch and eat at the school or may go to any of the local dining establishments. The school does not provide lunch or refreshments.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Donald Elder started his art education at the Art Students’ League, the New York Academy of Art and Pratt. He lived in Europe studying in Paris, Florence and Valdottavo, Italy. Elder is a three-time receipient of the Pollock-Krasner Award and received the Edward G McDowell Grant. He currently lives in Woostock, NY. Elder applies an abstract impressionist point of view to his paintings. He has an emotional rapport with nature. His work echoes of fantasy, mystical light and romanticism.
