Online Live Course
ABOUT THIS COURSE:
Pastel has been compared with the pollen of a lily or colors on butterfly wings, yet it is among the most durable of mediums. From DaVinci to Degas, Cassatt to Picasso, artists have explored the amazing potential of pastel over the centuries. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, you’ll be inspired as you learn about the medium’s long history and learn techniques to explore the poetic side of pastel. You may choose to just watch or to sketch and paint along, step-by-step, with very popular instructor and master pastelist, Robert Carsten. Each week we will focus on a different subject, utilizing diverse approaches and techniques. Here is what our students are saying:
“Robert’s class is so stimulating. As always, he does such a fine job of illustrating his concept. It’s even clearer to me in these hour segments. The thing that really makes the difference using zoom is the opportunity for the student to see exactly what he’s doing as he does it. One can even enlarge it to see minute details, while in a class setting you’re so far back or not in the best space to see just what’s being done. Huge difference.”
“This was a fabulous class! It’s what I’ve been looking for to enable me to free up and concentrate on SHAPES! I started something and it’s got such a different feel right from the start. Thank you again for being such a special teacher.”
“Only a teacher of your caliber could inspire such expertise by so many showing such diversity and beauty. Thank you so much.”
