ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
Participants will be shown how to prepare and use mat board printing plates that have the texture of mild sandpaper and are therefore conducive to drawing with water soluble crayons and painting with water based printing ink. Being lightweight, these plates are easily transportable and are particularly useful for plein air artists who may wish to draw and paint in situ. When ready to print and brought to the press, pressure exerted on dampened paper allows for the crayon drawing and ink to be transferred to the paper. Second, ghost impressions can also be made.
Since no solvents are used, the printmaking studio is fume free, and clean-up is with dishwashing detergent and water.
Suitable for all levels; no experience necessary! Ages 16+
