ABOUT THIS CLASS
Pastel is an infinitely challenging and satisfying media bringing together the best parts of drawing and painting. In this class students will seek to gain an understanding of the media and mastery of the technique. This structured workshop reflects an Academic and Atelier style approach of learning with students working one to one with the instructor. Concepts and projects will be introduced through short lectures and demonstrations. Student newer to the media will start by working from observation in a realistic style to develop and strengthen foundation skills (drawing, composition, value, temperature, pastel technique and color theory). Still-life set ups will last a minimum of 2 weeks and be designed to challenge the viewer. Advanced students will have to opportunity to work in any style they wish from a variety of reference with the goal of expanding their technical abilities and concepts of picture making.
This class will empower the beginner and offer new challenges to the experienced artist. Students are encouraged to enter the class at any time.
