ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
Two, six hour sessions beginning with a discussion of materials, including soft pastel choices, paper samples and details of storing and framing pastels. Methods of working with the medium and various tools used will also be discussed. A (10 step) video demonstration of a finished pastel will be shown, plus a demo of the workshop landscape.
Begining with exercises that emphasize looking at the landscape, students will experiment with composition and gain ease with the medium and tools. We will determine the light source, simple shapes, examine values, and then develop details through color and form, arriving at a completed interpretation of the landscape. Plein-air, weather permitting/bring a photograph to work from.
