ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Experience the dramatic interplay of light and dark in this immersive weekend workshop. Inspired by the legendary “Tenebrism” of Caravaggio and the soulful luminosity of Rembrandt, this course breaks down the complex Old Master techniques into a practical, step-by-step curriculum. Whether you are picking up a brush for the first time or looking to add “weight” and atmosphere to your professional portfolio, you will leave with a finished study and a deeper understanding of visual drama.
What You Will Achieve:
Atmospheric Realism: Move beyond flat paintings to create work with “heft” and presence.
Technical Mastery: Understand the chemistry of oil layers, from fat-over-lean to glazing.
Compositional Drama: Learn to use light as a storytelling tool rather than just a utility.

Paint Focus: Value, Edge Control, Classical Layering Note: All still life materials and lighting setups are provided.

- Please note that for workshops lasting all day there is a one-hour break from 12PM to 1PM. Students are invited to bring lunch and eat at the school or may go to any of the local dining establishments. The school does not provide lunch or refreshments.
