Making a Collage Book

Workshop

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:

Books are wonderful places to document and archive our creative ideas and growth.  A wealth of information can be stored in a bound book, while collage is a flexible practice that allows for experimenting, exploring and discovering new ways to elevate your artwork.

In this two-day workshop students will combine the best of both elements by bringing to class a hard bound book, stacks of paper and glue and leave with an art book and a new way to express themselves, while explaining their art practice. While collaging with the printed pages students will be challenged to seek new methods of working on a two-dimensional surface.   All types of paper can be incorporated into your piece from painted papers, purchased, decorative or recycled.

The completed book can be considered as sketches for larger works, while others may consider it a final work of art.  Demonstrations, classroom discussion and power points will focus on understanding abstract elements and building strategies, and as a personal artistic philosophy on abstraction.

Suitable for intermediate and advanced students. Ages 21+
