ABOUT THIS CLASS

Think. Create. Manipulate.

This class will focus on sculpture as a form of expression using a variety of materials. Using materials such as paper mache, found object, wood, clay, old books and even food, students will be encouraged to make their own artistic decisions within the framework of each project. Students will work through the creative process from brainstorming ideas through bringing those ideas into fruition. Emphasis will be placed on craftsmanship, design and composition as it applies to sculpture in relief and 3 dimensional form. We will be looking at different artist’s for inspiration.

Find the artist within through process, craftsmanship, focus and sincerity.

Supplies: Students will need to bring in materials that are specific to their projects as we proceed; for example found objects and recycle materials for armatures.

Saugerties High School students only. Classes will be conducted at Saugerties High School.

February 5–June 10, 2020. Wednesdays, 3–5:30 PM
