ABOUT THIS CLASS
Spend an hour with Kate in her home studio while she discusses and demonstrates different ideas and ideals to consider as it relates to an artist’s process. Kate will read from her notes on art-making as meditation, show samples regarding each topic, demonstrate the practice, and offer an assignment for ongoing submission and discussion in a shared Google Doc format. Printmakers, painters and poets are welcome.
“I have taken classes with Kate for at least fifteen years. I wondered, therefore, if the new online class would be a repetition of many talks I had already heard. Further, I was dubious about any online course. Nevertheless, I signed on and am happy to say that in every way these classes have been worthwhile and enjoyable. They make me rush into my studio to try out a new idea or new approach. Each class begins with a lecture on one or more specific elements of creating art, realist or abstract, illustrated with her own work. I find the inclusion of references to art history really valuable. The second half of each class is a demonstration of how to make use of what has been discussed in our own work and of some materials that could be used. It’s clear that a great deal of thought and work has gone into creating Kate’s online class.” Janet S.
