ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
These 4 workshops are sequentially designed to help students build mastery in painting people, with a focus on painting heads and hands. Enrollment in all four is recommended but not required. Every session includes easel-to-easel instruction.
PART I DRAWING & PAINTING THE HEAD
(need four 14×18 canvas boards)
1) 30 minute Lecture on the proportions and structure of the human head. Rest of Class: Draw or Paint a head study from life.
2) 30 minute Lecture on the skull, and facial muscles, and how they show in a live model. Rest of Class: Draw or Paint a head study from life.
3) 30 minute Lecture/Demo on the structure of the Eye, eyelids & eye socket, (no model). Rest of Class: Practice drawing/painting eyes from handout images.
4) 30 minute Lecture/Demo on the structure of the Mouth. Rest of Class: Practice drawing/painting mouths both open and closed from life.
