Workshop
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Designed for students with landscape painting experience, in this workshop we will focus on finding your unique voice. This will be achieved through rigorous discussion and implementation of the elements that coalesce to create excellence. These include the formal considerations of shape, edge, line, directionality, composition, surface and color; as well as narrative content and mood. We will begin the workshop by discussing two finished paintings by each artist, critiquing not just for what is successful and what works less well but also to get a clearer idea of intentions and goals. This discussion will include looking at historical works by Innes, Whistler, Henry, Twachtman and others.
As the workshop progresses, students will dial in on their individual aspirations as landscape painters, creating a small body of work that hangs together and expresses a personal vision.
Open to landscape artists working in any paint, pastel, or collage media. Ages 14+
