Woodstock School of Art
2470 Route 212, Woodstock NY 12498
ABOUT THIS CLASS:
A unique partnership between Woodstock School of Art and the Rock Academy!
Be part of teen group that will focus on creating artwork for Rock Academy’s upcoming show featuring the music of the iconic rock band KISS. Participants will collaborate on group projects, such as a backdrop for the stage. They will also create an individualized piece of art inspired by the raw energy of the band KISS and the Glam/Metal art scene in the 1970’s and 80’s. This artwork can take the form of drawing, painting, or sculpture, created with the assistance of veteran art teacher Patty Mooney. Patty has an eclectic resume including 20 years teaching art at Saugerties High School, an active local artist, and worked for indie labels in the early 90’s as an Art Director and Graphic Designer in particular Roadrunner Records for bands such as Sepultura, Typo O Negative, and Motorhead.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Patty Mooney lives and works in the Woodstock / Kingston area. A sculptor who relishes the open-ended creative process, Patty uses an eclectic palette of materials both manufactured and natural to solve expressive, aesthetic and practical problems that arise in her evolving oeuvre of work. She is a seasoned educator having recently retired from teaching art at Saugerties High School for 20 years. Her teaching style leans on guiding students through the creative process to explore and discover their own answers.
Below are some examples of work from Patty’s students:
