Workshop
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Break away from academic art making and all the rules that come with it and free your artistic practice to make creative figures using a mixture of tools and supplies. In this three-day workshop that mixes figurative with abstract art, you’ll use just a few of the supplies available at your art supply store. The core of the materials will come from your local hardware store. Think: Drawing with Sharpies, brayers, graphite and tape, and more.
Students will be encouraged to build their unique artistic aesthetics with a philosophy toward seeking their authentic voice. Color, composition, and visual thinking will be cultivated through conversation and experimentation.
Group and individual critiques and discussions will focus on the fundamental components of making interesting works as they apply to each student’s work. Demonstrations and visual lectures will also take place frequently during class. The first day of the workshop, students will get to work with a live model.
