Tor has lived and worked in the Hudson Valley of New York State all his life. He has been involved in the visual arts since before his teen years. As a retired art teacher and department chair at Saugerties High School in Saugerties, NY., his experience makes him especially suited as a studio instructor for beginning and intermediate students in drawing and painting. Tor has worked with watercolor, oils and acrylics with a variety of subject matter ranging from portraiture to still-life and landscape. His resume includes numerous shows and awards for his work over the past forty years. Presently, Tor is concentrating on landscapes in acrylic on board. He finds acrylics to be well suited to his process both in the studio and outdoors in the field. His inspiration comes from his love of the Catskill Mountains and the streams that eventually find their way down to the Hudson River.
