Part-Time Summer Internship Opportunity

The Woodstock School of Art, Inc. is a 501(c)3 educational institution located in the picturesque artists’ colony of Woodstock, New York, surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Catskill Mountains, approximately 100 miles north of New York City. We offer year-round classes in fine art, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, in fully climate-controlled studios housed in historic bluestone and native timber buildings. Our classes are open to all, regardless of experience.

MISSION

The Woodstock School of Art is dedicated to providing excellence in fine art instruction, fostering creativity within a welcoming community, and building upon its rich artistic heritage and unique historic setting.

Arts Administration Assistant

Overview This internship offers a comprehensive, hands-on experience within a dynamic non-profit art school. The selected candidate will support both the creative heart of our studios and the essential marketing initiatives that drive our community engagement. This role is ideal for a versatile individual looking to gain diverse experience in arts management, studio operations, and creative marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Studio Operations: Assist with studio setup and organization for courses and special events; help manage inventory of class materials; and support art programs across various media including drawing, painting, printmaking, encaustic, and sculpture.
  • Marketing & Communications: Support marketing projects from concept to completion; create promotional materials; and assist with content development for the website, social media, and e-newsletters.
  • Administrative Support: Complete daily administrative tasks to ensure smooth school operations and assist with conducting market research.
  • Event Support: Participate in the execution of special events, exhibitions, and fundraising efforts.
  • Exhibition Assistance: Support the exhibition program through working in the gallery and helping bring together exhibitions.  

Ideal Candidates We are seeking creative, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals with strong communication and organizational skills. Candidates should:

  • Be interested in fostering leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Possess proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bonus Skills: Experience with photography, video production, or design platforms (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp) is a plus.

STIPEND

  • Duration: 8-week term / 80 total hours
    • Some evenings and weekends are required.
  • Stipend: $1,280 upon completion 
  • College Credit: May be available, must be arranged by the student with their college or university
  • Transportation: No housing provided; interns must transport themselves to/from WSA
  • Scholarships: Interns may apply for tuition scholarships to attend WSA workshops or classes on a space-available basis
