Winter at the Moscow Airport, a new etching by Alan Siegel, has been chosen by The Woodstock School of Art as its 2017 Annual Print. The print, limited to an edition of 85, will be given to contributors of $100 or more to the nonprofit school.
Siegel notes “I have had the joy of being part of The Woodstock School of Art since its founding by Bob Angeloch in the early 1980’s. While practicing law in New York and traveling the world on business, I made many trips to the Soviet Union and then Russia. While waiting at the airport for a snow-bound flight to Berlin, I had a sketch book and drew pictures of Russian people in their winter clothes. When I got back to Woodstock, Bob taught me how to make etchings and dry points. This print is one of them. Thank you Kate and the Board for this honor.”
Siegel continues “While the practice of law in international law firms was pretty intense, I did find some time to study art at the Art Students League, the 92nd Street Y, The WSA and work in my own studio here in Woodstock. In my retirement years, I am a director and officer of The Thompson Family Foundation, one of the largest such foundations in the US. We are proud to have assisted The Woodstock School of Art in its scholarship program for college and high school students as well as providing general financial support for the school”.
While all Friends categories receive the Annual Print, Patron’s names will be displayed on our Patron’s Wall in our lobby.
