ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
In this class students have the opportunity to work and be mentored on portraits of friends and family members using photographs as reference. In the first class we will employ a live model to explore what constitutes good photographic reference for drawing and painting, and to make studies of the structure of the head in three dimensions as preparation for subsequent classes. Among the skills we aim to develop are design, composition, methods for transferring images to paper and canvas, drawing, and paint application.
In an effort to maintain our non-toxic environment, the Woodstock School of Art does not permit the use of turpentine or mineral spirits. Additionally, please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne or scents of any kind. Learn more.
