ABOUT THIS CLASS
Pastel is an infinitely challenging and satisfying medium combining the best of drawing and painting. Students receive individual instruction which is supplemented by regular lectures and demonstrations. Those new to the medium will start by working from observation in a realistic style to develop and strengthen foundation skills (drawing, composition, value, temperature, pastel technique and color theory). Still life set-ups will last a minimum of two weeks and be designed to challenge the student. Advanced students will have the opportunity to work in any style they wish from a variety of references with the goal of expanding their technical abilities and concepts of picture making. This course is suited for the beginner or the professional and open to all.
