Learn the elements of artistic anatomy, proportion, and design along with principles and techniques of drawing. Work from the model to incorporate anatomical knowledge and volumetric drawing into personal expression. Beginning with the Action and Gesture, students learn how to develop natural proportion and wean themselves off of contour dependence. Instruction progresses with an introduction to the Mannequin- a volumetric based approach to the figure. Building upon these two core foundations the student then can implement the concepts of Muscle Groups, Tension, Light & Shade, Camber, and Bi-Lateral Symmetry. Anatomical Composition will be explored, as well as the Golden Mean and the Seven Laws of Folds. For five days students have the opportunity to bring their drawing to a master level with intensive drawing and concept building. Lectures, demonstrations, suggested reading, and practical application complete this course. |
